A crown is a cap that covers a tooth entirely, restoring its shape and taking the chewing load off a structure that can no longer carry it. It is what a root-treated back tooth needs, what a heavily filled tooth needs before it splits, and what a fractured tooth needs to stay in the mouth.

A bridge replaces a missing tooth by joining crowns on the teeth either side. It is fixed, it works, and it is faster and cheaper than an implant. The trade-off is that it requires preparing two healthy teeth, and it does not stop bone loss under the gap. We will explain that trade-off rather than default to whichever option is quicker.

Every crown here is milled in our own CAD/CAM laboratory from a digital scan. In practice that means a better marginal fit than a hand-poured impression allows, a shorter wait, and shade corrections handled the same day.

You probably need this if…

  • You have had a root canal on a back tooth
  • A large old filling keeps chipping or the tooth aches on biting
  • A tooth has cracked or fractured
  • A tooth is badly worn down from grinding
  • You have a gap from a missing tooth and do not want an implant
  • An old crown has loosened, or the metal margin now shows at the gum

Recognising two or more of these does not confirm a diagnosis. It means an examination is worth booking before the problem gets more expensive.

How the treatment works

  1. 01
    Assessment and shade selection

The tooth is checked for decay under an existing restoration, and the shade is matched in daylight against neighbouring teeth.

  2. 02
    Preparation

Under local anaesthesia, the tooth is reduced by the specific thickness the chosen material needs. Zirconia needs less clearance than metal-ceramic.

  3. 03
    Digital scan

An intraoral scan instead of impression putty. Higher accuracy at the margin, which is where crowns fail.

  4. 04
    Temporary crown

Fitted the same day so you leave with a functional tooth.

  5. 05
    Milling and fit

Milled in our lab, tried in, checked for fit, contact and bite, then cemented.

What crowns & bridges costs in Lucknow

Dental crown and bridge cost in Lucknow depends on the material, the number of units and how much preparation the supporting teeth need. Compare the complete restoration, including temporary work and fitting, with the same material specified in each estimate.

Your written estimate sets out the recommended treatment and any separate charges. The guide below explains what to check before agreeing to the plan.

Planning your treatment budget

What affects your fee?

Compare the scope of the treatment, the recommended materials and the follow-up care. Your assessment establishes the plan that is appropriate for you and the estimate for that plan.

What to check in your quotation

Ask for the crown material or bridge design, the number of units, scans or impressions, laboratory work, temporary restoration, try-in and fitting to be identified.

Additional work to discuss

Root canal treatment, tooth build-up, gum treatment and later repairs may be separate. For a bridge, confirm the total for all supporting and replacement units.

Factors that determine your cost

  1. The material

Metal-ceramic, zirconia or E-max. The appropriate material depends on tooth position and bite; laboratory design and preparation of the supporting tooth also affect the fee.

  2. How many units

A bridge is priced per unit: a three-unit bridge is costed as three crowns.

  3. Whether the tooth needs building up first

A root-treated or broken-down tooth often needs a post and core before a crown can be fitted.

How your fee is confirmed

  1. The dentist examines your teeth and discusses your concerns. Any necessary imaging or records are explained, along with their charges.
  2. You discuss suitable treatment options, materials and any additional work needed.
  3. You receive a written plan showing what is included, any separate charges, the total fee and payment stages. Treatment begins after you agree to the plan.

Treatment needs vary between patients. Your written estimate sets out the agreed procedures, inclusions and separate charges before you decide. If new findings change the plan, the dentist discusses the options and revised estimate with you before continuing.

Questions

Crowns & Bridges: questions patients ask

How much does a dental crown cost in Lucknow?

Dental crown and bridge cost in Lucknow depends on the material, the number of units and how much preparation the supporting teeth need. Compare the complete restoration, including temporary work and fitting, with the same material specified in each estimate. After assessment at Chetna Dental Centre in Aashiana, you receive a written estimate identifying the treatment, inclusions and any separate charges before you decide.

Zirconia or metal-ceramic: which crown should I choose?

For back teeth under heavy load, zirconia is stronger and does not show a dark metal line at the gum as the gum recedes over the years. Metal-ceramic is around half the cost and performs well for many patients. For front teeth, E-max or layered zirconia gives the translucency that makes the crown indistinguishable from a natural tooth.

How long do dental crowns last?

Ten to fifteen years is typical, and well-maintained zirconia crowns often go longer. The commonest causes of failure are new decay at the margin where the crown meets the tooth, and grinding without a night guard.

Does getting a crown hurt?

Preparation is done under local anaesthesia and is not painful. Some sensitivity in the week between preparation and fitting is normal, particularly on a tooth that has not had a root canal.

Bridge or implant for a missing tooth?

A bridge is faster and cheaper but requires cutting down two healthy adjacent teeth and does not prevent the bone under the gap from shrinking. An implant preserves both. If the adjacent teeth already need crowns anyway, a bridge makes good sense; if they are healthy and untouched, an implant is usually the better long-term decision.
